PMAY is the prestigious social welfare flagship programme launched by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with a noble aim of providing “Housing for All,” by 2022. Check out today’s guide for detailed, step-by-step instructions on applying for the PMAY.

The PMAY was launched to provide affordable and urban housing to the economically weaker sections of the society – urban and rural poor, lower-income groups and middle-income groups. The Yojana has a dream goal of constructing around 20 million houses at affordable prices before the end of the financial year of 2022.

To make this dream come true, the Central Government under the leadership of our Prime Minister has set aside a whopping 31 billion USD for this scheme.

How to Apply for the PMAY?

To avail the benefits of the PMAY scheme, you can choose any one of the following two categories:

  • For Slum Dwellers – This section is exclusively for people living in poorly built slums, which are unhygienic and lack basic sanitation facilities.
  • Under 3 components – This section of the PMAY is for the benefit of the financially weaker sections of the society including the EWS (Economically Weaker Section), LIG (Low-Income Groups) and MIG (Middle Income Groups). People who earn an annual income below the 3 lakh threshold come under the EWS, while those who earn between 3 to 6 lakhs annually come under the LIG, and those who earn between 6 to 18 lakhs are classified under the MIG.
